At just 16 years old, British snowboarder Mia Brookes<\/strong> has already become the slopestyle world champion and is poised to be a prominent figure in the sport for years ahead.<\/p>\n Hailing from Sandbach in northern England, Brookes began her snowboarding journey as a toddler at the Stoke-on-Trent ski centre, where her grandfather served as an instructor.<\/p>\n Accompanied by her parents, whom her father Nigel<\/strong> described to the BBC as \u201cthree hippies who arrived in our motorhome,\u201d Brookes traveled across Europe for training and competitions. By the age of 10, she was inducted into the GB Snowsport programme.<\/p>\n Successfully balancing her athletic pursuits with her education in Sandbach, the young prodigy claimed second place in her senior debut at the Corvatsch Europa Cup in December 2020, outperforming Evy Poppe, the slopestyle champion from the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Just two months later, she celebrated victory in Big Air at Davos.<\/p>\n Although she was too young to compete in the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 by mere months, Brookes secured gold in Big Air and silver in slopestyle at the Junior World Championships in March 2022. She made her World Cup debut in the following season, scoring her first podium finish by placing second in Laax, and subsequently claimed the world slopestyle title in Bakuriani, Georgia, defeating Olympic champion Zoi Sadowski-Synott<\/strong> with the first cab 1440 trick landed in women’s competition.<\/p>\n Since then, Brookes has consistently found herself on the podium throughout the World Cup circuit, securing the Big Air crystal globe during the 2023\/24 season. However, it wasn’t until December 2024 that she achieved her first win, taking the title in Big Air in Beijing. She reinforced her success with another win in Big Air in Klagenfurt, enhancing her prospects for the overall Park and Pipe World Cup title.
