The incident occurred on December 31 at a ski slope located at an altitude of 1,460 meters.
A man and his 10-year-old daughter were snowboarding down the slope when an avalanche struck. The father managed to escape first, but did not see his daughter. He called for help, and other tourists rushed to assist.
One skier was able to locate the girl, who was buried under 1.5 meters of snow. With collective effort, they dug her out to the sound of applause.
According to the father, his daughter was under the snow for 15 minutes. However, he reported that she is doing well. Medical tests at the hospital revealed no fractures or internal injuries, though there is a suspicion of a concussion, as reported by SHOT.
As noted by the online portal «Kuban 24,» there remains a heightened risk of avalanches in the Sochi mountains above 500 meters until the evening of January 2. Avalanche prevention services at ski resorts are operating around the clock.
