Thanks to the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Hong Kong and Macao SARs of the PRC, Kazakhstan participated for the first time in the annual ASEAN Film Festival, showcasing the historical film “Tomiris.” The event attracted members of the consular corps, the Kazakh diaspora, and film aficionados from Hong Kong, thereby enhancing cultural connections between Central and Southeast Asia.
During his opening remarks, Kazakhstan’s Consul General, Bauyrzhan Dosmanbetov, highlighted the significance of this debut, characterizing “Tomiris” as a pivotal representation of Kazakhstan’s cinematic accomplishments. He noted that the film goes beyond artistic value, embodying the spirit, history, and cultural heritage of the Kazakh people and the Great Steppe. The Consul General also pointed out that this event furthers cultural diplomacy between Kazakhstan and Southeast Asian countries through a mutual appreciation of storytelling.
The presentation of “Tomiris” generated considerable enthusiasm and admiration among the attendees of the ASEAN Film Festival.
