On Sunday, February 13, the Jizerská50 will take place. This 50km Visma Ski Classics race is the eighth stage of Season XII and the second Grand Classics event, held in Bedřichov, Czech Republic.
The Jizerská50 is one of Central Europe’s premier long-distance cross-country skiing events and ranks as the third oldest in the Visma Ski Classics series. Established in the late 1960s by mountain climbers, the race has become a staple in the Jizera Mountains.
The race starts and finishes in Bedřichov, a charming mountain village known for its unique atmosphere, local delicacies, and beer—creating a vibrant «folk fest» ambiance for all who participate. This event also pays tribute to 15 local mountain climbers who competed in 1970, tragically losing their lives during an expedition in Peru just four months later.
Be sure to catch the event live on Ski Classics Play. The women’s race kicks off at 7:50 CET, followed by the men’s at 8:00 CET.
