Before the Vasaloppet on Sunday, Team Eksjöhus bolsters its men’s team with Ulricehamn native Andreas Svensson, who will compete in the 90km race from Sälen to Mora wearing the team’s colors.
“Andreas has achieved impressive results in long-distance races throughout Sweden this season. He has demonstrated consistent high performance, and it’s a pleasure to have him on Team Eksjöhus for Vasaloppet,” says team manager Oskar Svärd.
The 27-year-old Andreas Svensson hails from the same Ulricehamn region in Sweden as Oskar Svärd and has been competing for Ulricehamns IF throughout his career. After completing his ski high school in Torsby, he relocated to Falun, where he trained for over five years.
This season marks a new chapter in Andreas’s long-distance skiing journey. After previously participating in a range of disciplines from sprint to classic, he chose to focus on longer races, resulting in a significant breakthrough. In February, he clinched victory in the prestigious Engelbrekt race, further solidifying his consistent high performance throughout the season.
“During the pandemic, I decided to explore a new direction. I’ve always had a passion for longer races, and I felt it was the right time to pursue that. This winter, I competed in the Swedish long-distance race cup and several Visma Ski Classics Challengers races. I’ve been performing at a high and steady level and am more motivated than ever. It is a great honor to have the chance to compete in the Vasaloppet for Team Eksjöhus,” explains Andreas.
