Kyrgyzstan is set to boost the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP to 7 percent by 2030. Erdenet Kasymov, the Director of the Tourism Department, shared this news on Birinchi Radio.

Kasymov reported that tourism accounted for 4.3 percent of the nation’s GDP during the first half of the year, marking a 0.4 percentage point increase compared to the same timeframe in 2024 (which was 3.9 percent).

He emphasized that winter and mountain tourism are top priorities. A key state-supported project is the development of the Ala-Too Resort ski complex.

According to Erdenet Kasymov, this modern facility is set to be a major attraction, comparable to Kumtor. The Ala-Too Resort is anticipated to draw in around 850,000 tourists annually, generate approximately 4,000 jobs, and contribute significantly to budget revenues.

Ongoing construction also includes other major resorts, such as the Baytik Resort in the Chui region and the Chatkal Resort in the Jalal-Abad region. These initiatives aim to enhance the tourism potential of the areas and create new recreational and employment opportunities.
